As speech-to-text improves, dictation is becoming more and more relevant. I have started using dictation from my phone recently, since typing a lot of text on a phone keyboard is a pain. I have done this though the Codex app, which has worked like a charm!
This, together with a tip from a colleague, triggered me to try this more on Windows as well. My colleague uses Handy, but I wanted to see what's available out of the box.
It turns out that you can press [Windows key] + H in any input, which opens a small tool window where you can trigger the built-in Windows dictation functionality.
It seems to work quite well, but can become a bit confused when mixing in single terms from another language, such as a Swedish sentence with a few technical terms in English sprinkled through.
However, if you slow down and annunciate clearly it seems to pick up on that you are switching between languages as well.
